RSR089 – John Fields – Producer for The Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Pink

Please share this episode using the buttons above. So more Rockstars find the podcast!

My guest is John Fields, an internationally recognized, multi-platinum writer/ producer/ mixer who has worked with some of the biggest names in the music business - from rock bands like Switchfoot, Jimmy Eat World, Lifehouse, Goo Goo Dolls and Andrew W.K., to chart-dominating pop acts like the Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, Pink and Backstreet Boys, to dance/electronic artists like Har Mar Superstar, The Presets and Cut Copy.

A multi-instrumentalist virtuoso, John will quickly jump behind the drums or piano, or pick up a bass or guitar to lay down a part when needed. This ability combined with quick decisions in the studio make for a super fast, efficient, and fun session. In fact Jordan Valeriote also a guest on the podcast had mentioned assisting with John on a session where he got to watch John in action. Jordan described as seeing tracks being created in the studio a lightning speed that sounded like a finished record before they even got to mixing.

John is also an in-demand co-writer, having penned songs with Dan Wilson, Nick Jonas, Selena Gomez, Australian superstar Vanessa Amorosi and others. And occasionally he will hit the road with an artist, as he's done playing bass with Nick Jonas and the Administration, The Rembrandts and Soul Asylum.

Jeff started out as a musician and spent a decade producing and touring with his band, God Lives Under Water. His band was signed by Rick Rubin to American Recordings in 1993.
