Please share this episode using the buttons above. So more Rockstars find the podcast!

Jeff Turzo is a musician, producer, and founder of Overstayer Recording Equipment, a company that designs cool audio gear for the studio. Jeff started out as a musician and spent a decade producing and touring with his band, God Lives Under Water. His band was signed by Rick Rubin to American Recordings in 1993. GLU went on to record multiple albums with a heavy guitar, synth, loop driven pop sound that landed them a movie soundtrack hit for the Keanu Reeves film, Johnny Mnemonic, and airtime on alternative rock stations and MTV. This led to years of touring for his band sharing the stage with other heavy pop bands like KMFDM, Korn, Filter, Deftones, No Doubt, and Sublime.

In the studio Jeff was a multi-instrumentalist and producer with synthesis/sampling knowledge, sometimes producing with Matt Mahaffey (episode 69), but also with his GLU partner David Reilly, staying busy with remix projects that included Skinny Puppy, Rob Zombie and Messiah. He also organized For the Masses: A Tribute To Depeche Mode in 1998, and released Up Off The Floor with GLU in 2004.

Dane Myers is a producer and owner of Custom-Tracks.com, a recording studio in Orlando FL that offers online recording and production services to artists anywhere in the world.

Several years after founding local singer/songwriter recording studio, Wholehearted Productions, and producing numerous tracks for aspiring local artists, Dane realized a big obstacle all of his artists faced in getting the quality of music they wanted was a lack of access to professional session musicians. Now after leaving university, Dane is bent on changing the way people think about recording, putting the focus on quality performances, and putting top-shelf musicians back in independent music production through Custom-Tracks.com.

Stewart Eastham Shares tips on learning Pro Tools as an artist, songwriter, and producer in East Nashville TN. His recent Americana album, Dancers In The Mansion, was recorded at The Toy Box Studio, through the famous MCI console. The album brings together a rock band rhythm section with piano, organ, pedal steel, horns, and real strings to create an energetic album that sounds great. Stewart talks with us on the podcast about his experience in the studio, and as an independent artist. We dig into what it means to write, record, and release an album living in Nashville, and then take it out into the world.

"Be your biggest fan. Believe in yourself. Trust yourself. And follow your vision." @SEasthamMusic #EastNashville

Stewart generously shared some examples of mixes from his record, Dancers In The Mansion. The playlist includes mixes of two songs. You will find the rough mix, the final mix, and the mastered mix. This is to give you some insight into the differences. You can hear that the rough mixes are louder because they were mixed through a loudness plugin. And The final mixes are lower level probably mixed at a nominal -12 or -18 dbfs. But this leaves lots of headroom for the mastering stage. Finally the mastered mixes are at full volume and sound great!
